I love my church…

Today started out with a rude awakening. I can’t say that I was pumped about the 5 million phones calls that started about 5 am. I was testing the snooze function on my alarm clock when the calls started, so I’m sure I sent several of the callers to voicemail thinking it was the alarm! When I finally realized that people were calling I answered and it was several of our crazy Navigate summer session students wondering where I was. Very sarcastically I gave them the obvious answer and they informed that I should get up b/c I was taking them to a homeless outreach in the inner-city. This being news to me got me out the bed and ready to go in no time!

I think it is so cool that I go to a church that not only cares about the poor, but acts on it. I love it that when I tell people that I go the Healing Place Church they identify us as the church that gives stuff away or as the church they saw feeding about 50 homeless men and women breakfast on Florida St. I’ve seen a lot of people care about what god cares about, but I am so thankful that I am a apart of a church that does something about.

Guys like Craig Boutte and JP Brumfield who coordinate and facilitate things like this all day everyday are some of my heroes.

What started as a rude awakening this morning put me in a place to really see men being the hands and feet of Jesus. It’s an image I wont soon forget.

Check out a couple of pictures from the outreach courtesy of my boy Eddie G.
